East Side Fab offers space and networking for innovations and is a contact point for business and science from the region. Founded by companies for companies, the focus is on the realisation of cross-industry innovation projects and the creation of new products and solutions in the field of future technologies – here, industry, SMEs and start-ups learn to grow together even more, to master change together and thus to set the course for the future.
History.
Once upon a time … that’s how most stories begin – including that of the creation of East Side Fab in Saarbrücken. In this case, the protagonists are regional entrepreneurs and actors from science.
In 2019, entrepreneurs from the Saarland collectively noted that the technical and economic challenges are becoming ever greater. The problems and their solutions are coming at companies ever faster and many of these issues affect companies together and equally. Issues in the context of human resources, infrastructure, data management, data security, energy transition, sustainability and climate protection.
And so the idea was born to found an association, supported by the state government – to join forces, create synergies and enable collaboration. This network provides tools and spaces in which work on common themes is made possible. The start signal for East Side Fab.
For this reason, in 2019 the seven founding members Hager SE, thyssenkrupp Systems Engineering, OBG Gruppe, ZENNER International GmbH & Co. KG, Villeroy & Boch AG, htw saar and the Sparkassenverband Saar joined forces.
As innovation accelerators, companies in East Side Fab today turn ideas into sustainable successes – and they do it together.
The members, partners and supporters of East Side Fab e.V. include companies from various sectors, research institutions, public institutions and interested individuals. Everyone is asked and has the opportunity to participate, to initiate joint projects and initial ideas – in short: to drive innovation forward.
East Side Fab is funded by the Ministry of Economics, Labour, Energy and Transport and is additionally supported by membership fees.
